What are Polymer Crystals and how do they work?
Polymer Crystals are made using a polymer called polyacrylamide.
Polyacrylamide is a super-absorbent, non-toxic polymer that was developed in the 1960s to retain water in arid soil. Polyacrylamide holds up to 400 times its weight in water--one pound of polymer can hold up to 48 gallons of rain water! The polymer granules are used in agriculture and gardening soil for water retention.
The crystals are white, odourless and contain no preservatives, additives, fertilizers, etc.. They are safe for the environment and for craft applications.
Today, Polymer Crystals are widely used in many industries and in numerous products beyond agriculture. Uses include disposable diapers, hot and cold compresses, toothpaste, cosmetics, flower arrangements, air fresheners, potting plants, lawns, Chill Out! Neckties and Chill Out! Beds.
